Inner Worlds Therapy

Inner Worlds Therapy

Underneath every behaviour is an inner world.

Children are often described by what we can see from the outside-the behaviour, the anxiety, the anger, the withdrawal.
But underneath every behaviour is an inner world.

At Innerworlds Therapy & Consultation, I work with children, families, and schools to gently understand what sits beneath emotional and behavioural difficulties, through connection rather than correction.

I have been a play therapist for over ten years, and my work is rooted in the belief that children do not need fixing. They need safety, understanding, and relationships that allow them to feel seen for who they are beneath their struggles.

Through play therapy, parent support, and school consultation, I aim to create spaces where children, and the adults around them can feel understood from the inside out.

How I Work

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: behaviour is communication. Children don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on inside, so they show us instead, through play, behaviour, and emotion.

What to Expect?

Starting therapy

You don’t need the right words or a clear plan before starting. We begin with relationship, safety, and curiosity.

For children

Sessions are based around play. This might include drawing, storytelling, imaginative play, or simply being. There is no pressure to talk or perform. I follow the child’s pace. Over time, therapy can support children to:
Feel more emotionally settled
Understand their feelings
Express themselves more safely
Feel more secure in relationships

For parents

Parent work is a space to slow things down and make sense of what is happening at home. We might explore:
What behaviour might be communicating
Emotional patterns in the family
Your responses and what shapes them
Ways to strengthen connection
There is no expectation of perfection, only understanding.

Working together

I may work with children, parents, or both depending on need. I also liaise with schools where appropriate. The aim is always the same: understanding what is going on underneath, so things can shift from the inside out.

If you’re unsure

It’s completely okay to feel unsure. You don’t need to have it all figured out — just a starting point.
